Well this is new for me. Pax got her series of shots last week, including the Bordatella through the nose.
She started this snorting thing.. u know, like them people that hack so loud to get the last bit of mucus stuck in their nasal cavity.. It happened on the weekend but they were very few and far between. Just thought she was conjested, but unfortunately it seems to have progressed to her doing this every time she gets excited.
She hasn't been in contact with dogs much at all lately so I doubt its Kennel Cough. It also doesn't sound the same as when she had Kennel Cough.
Anyway, could someone please shed some light on this? I'm not too worried because I got used to this with my furball, but just never seen Pax do this before so I thought I'd ask. _________________ My dogs are my life...

I am not sure if this is what you are describing but I think it's a doggie sneeze. It sounds like they are sneezing in reverse - sucking the air in instead of forcing it out. The first time Marley did it I freaked out. My vet does a beautiful impression of the noise and said it's no big deal.
I find Marley likes a breath of fresh air if she has a sneezing fit....open the door and let him out for some air. |

That's exactly what it sounds like "sucking the air in" and add trying to pull in all the mucus to spit it out, without the spiting. That describes it to a tee.
This only started on the weekend.. I simply assumed that it was due to the colder weather and she was congested a bit.
Thanks for your reply _________________ My dogs are my life...

Anchor ended up with kennel cough (or an upper respiratory infection) after getting that shot... _________________

My 6 month old started that over the weekend and did it again this morning. I assumed it was brought on by the weather. He's only done it right after he wakes up, so maybe he just sneezes when hes tired, like me |

Oscar did that once after waking up from a long nap in his crate. We joked he had post nasal drip or something. Hasn't happened since. _________________

| Tor does this fairly regularly, especially getting up from a nap. Our vet says it's no big deal. |

Bella Bugs has done this a few times.... Sneeze fit... The first time it happened we were on a hiking trip, and I thought she must be allergic to something.... It has happened a couple other times.... But always passes and doesn't seem to bother her much |

I'm thinking it could finally be kennel cough. Its not like her to be this clingy.. I'm keeping an eye on her for sure but so far its only the snorting / hacking. She's always had a bit of a runny nose so that's not out of the ordinary, for now.
Thanks everyone. _________________ My dogs are my life...

If she has true kennel cough, you will know. She will sound like she started smoking or something. Good news is that kennel cough is usually not life threatening. Bad news is it is highly contagious, and it will rip through a kennel in no time.
My dogs tend to hyperventilate and snort funny when I feed them, as they just get so excited. My guess is that it is either that, or she is having some sort of allergic reaction to the Bordatella. _________________ www.conquestbulldogs.com |

The shot was given Nov 11. I would assume that if it was an allergic reaction, she would have started showing symptoms within 24 hours? Not sure how long it takes for the body to react. _________________ My dogs are my life...

| We ended up going to the vet today :/ He has an upper respiratory infection. 10 days of antibiotics, some rest and $162 and he should be fine. Doesn't seem to e bothering him too much, he keeps shooting boogers across my living room though |
