My male bulldog started a strange behavior about a week ago. When my female is outside and sits down occasionally Cooper will walk up behind her and piss on her back. I am not sure if it is a dominate thing. This morning I was watching them out of the window. Abbie sat down; Cooper nonchalantly walked up behind her. He just didn't mark her back; he emptied his damn bladder. I'm starting to wonder if Abbie is dealing with a full deck because she just sat there and let him do it. Dog or not, if I feel something warm running down my back I am at least going to turn around to see what it is. No not Abbie, she just kept staring into the back yard as if something was there. After about a minute Abbie stood up and they both walked to the back door to come in as if nothing happened. Yippie, another dog bath!! Just when I think I'm starting to understand the intricacies of dog behavior they throw something new at me. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

How old is your male?

My roommate a while back had a a male and female pug. The male pug used to do that to the female and tried to do it to my AB twice. The female would put up with it but my AB wouldn't. The first time the pug missed, the second time was a direct hit. As soon as lincoln realized what was going on he let the little bastard know who was boss. He then peed on the now submitting pug and then on the female for good measure. They were together for another year and a half and nothing like that ever happened again. I assumed it was a total dominance display and they sorted it out.

My older male used to pee on other dogs when I first got him. IMO it was pure dominance. He was at that age where he was going to be pushing boundaries and he never had any before I got him so he was a jerk....anyway, it did not take long to correct, diminish, and finally delete the behavior. I don't think he even thinks about doing it anymore.
