What is your stance on the Black AB? By Black AB I mean dominantly black (not black brindle) with a touch of white (paws, chest maybe tip of tail). This is an honest question that I'm trying to get from the most popular registries. _________________

Color: Solid or varying degrees of white, all shades of brindle, brown, red, or tan are acceptable.
Solid black, black and tan, and/or any degree of merle is unacceptable.
A full black mask is not acceptable.
**Merle is a dilution of overall body color (black or red) with splotches of darker color giving the effect of "merling" or "marbling" not to be confused with Brindle that gives the effect of "striping". _________________ www.ABRA1st.com, www.DogResources.com, www.Rosebull.com, www.BulldoggeRegistry.com

Thanks again Lesli. I know it sounds like a stupid question, but it's out there. _________________

OK, this might be an idiotic question, but, why is Black unacceptable in a bulldog? For my own curiosity!
Thanks |

No more of a black mask than this dog.
The judge stated that he had taken the cosmetic fault into account and he was the best dog that day. Gaucho of Venn therefore earned his Adult Champion title. Were you there?? Did you compete??
Speaks volumes about a dog that can enter the ring with points already deducted and still win |

The word "Unacceptable" in a standard doesn't mean cosmetic fault. The word "Unacceptable" means not accepted.
For you to breed an "Unacceptable" trait is irresponsible. Judging by your defensive attitude, I think you know this but do it anyways to make a buck. _________________

Which of these dog(s) has a black mask?? Don't avoid answering the question. If you don't your silence will explain it all.

If you like black bulldogs it is no big deal it just isn't one of the traditional colours.
If you want a show dog then get one that fits the standard, if you don't want a show dog then get what suits your fancy. |
Theres your answer from an official on the board and the registry. I put an important part in bold.
Besides, the whole "If you don't know then Im not going to tell you" attitude is quite juvenile. _________________

| Brutus, you are what is wrong with this breed. Everybody wants to talk, but nobody want to learn or educate themselves. I asked you a simple question and yet you are stumped. You obviously have a point of view and agenda, it just isn't backed by knowledgeable rationale. |

I answered your simple question with the breed standard and the words of someone with the ABRA.
I still don't understand why you posted here from the get go...All you did was make yourself look guilty. Why don't you breed within the standard?
Also, please enlighten me as to how I am what is wrong with this breed. Especially since I do not breed dogs. Seems the shotty, shady breeders like you are the problem. So save your cookie cutter breeder insults for all the breeders who have been calling you out.
I was simply asking Leslie(and quite politely with no names involved) if her breed standard has changed since this question was originally asked and why it would change to meet a breeder and not the breeders trying to meet the standard. _________________

I think I made myself pretty clear. The breed has a whole lot of people who bitch from the sidelines. They have plenty of energy to bitch, but not enough to get off their ass and do something. People like you don't have a clear understanding of basic genetics and make uneducated generalizations. You like to give the impression that you are informed but really your just uninformed. Get a book, read a chapter on color genetics and the lets have a discussion |
